I don't think anyone should (have to) breastfeed in public, but I do think everyone should be allowed to.

Did you ever need to be in public for more than 1 hour?

I suppose if the women want to make a public show of breast feeding, then men would have that same right.

I'm not sure this article is about s/he being able to breastfeed in public, it's more of a "look at this craziness" story. He is not actually providing the milk he is using a hose to simulate breastfeeding, since he had his breasts removed to be a guy and they aren't working as a womans breasts would. It's a method used by women who've had mastectomies but still want the illusion of breastfeeding for whatever reasons they can dream up that I'm sure make perfect sense to whoever is doing it.

I don't care about any of this and wouldn't waste any time with rules, laws or talking about it beyond this curiosity thread. To me it's just a bunch of blablabla about WHAT I WANT parents. Their kids don't care and can be just as fed and healthy with a bottle. We make life way more complicated than it needs to be with our personal issues and instance that we are special.

Before I answer, let me just say once more that I think everyone should be allowed to breastfeed in public.

We did, and it wasn't a problem for us. I think we had to feed him in public once. We fed our son on a schedule (not a strict "exactly at 1:00!" sort of schedule, mind you). Children who are fed on a schedule quickly adapt to it. It's the whole reason the links I provide below talk of "feeding on demand" vs "feeding on a schedule" as purely a matter of preference. It makes no difference to the child, which style of feeding you choose.

IME, it shouldn't be necessary to feed a baby after just one hour if you feed them til full. Now, no one's gonna take it from me, because my son was one of those rare "easy" babies that didn't have to be fed every hour. I don't believe there's anything from experts to confirm that babies' appetites are formed at birth and cannot be shaped. But that seems to be the claim from some people who write my experience with my son off as me getting lucky *shrugs*

I'm encouraged to assume he was that way at birth. But even the first link below reads, "Some newborns feed as often as once every one and a half to two hours.", "as often as" being the operative phrase. And of course, as they get older, necessary feeding times grow further and further apart. So it's not unreasonable for me to say having to feed your baby after just one hour from his/her last meal is a bit much.

Feeding on schedule is something parents decide to do, not something the baby lets them do. This is probably the source of much of our disagreement. Some parents feel that it's best to let baby decide when to eat, but when you find yourself feeding them more often than every 2 hours on any regular basis, you've created a monster... so to speak. These are the women who are practically forced into feeding their children in public because they didn't think ahead. One way or another, your baby's going to get a routine down. Might as well make it one that works best for you (i.e., doesn't have you stopping in the middle of the grocery store to breastfeed them).

How Often Should Your Baby Feed?
Breastfeeding FAQs: How Much and How Often
HealthyChildren.org - How Often and How Much Should Your Baby Eat?

The controversy around breastfeeding in public is actually simple, though some (ironically in their efforts to simplify it further) complicate it immensely. It's a matter of differing views on what's "appropriate", and certainly differing views on what's inevitable (e.g., the idea that variations in appetite are established before birth, rather than shaped afterwards by feeding habits).

Upon dismissing it as inevitable, I inevitably make it more of a question of what's appropriate. Can't help that.

The agenda to gender neutralize people isn't working so stop doing it, it's bordering on carny side-show freak.

People who want to have it all ways possible isn't healthy for a society, society cannot allow people to simply do whatever they want because they can.

If you're a "guy" and want to breastfeed your child at home, then do it - not out in public.
Yes. It may seem out of place having a male breastfeeding, but American society is much more accepting of of a shirtless man than a shirtless woman.

If you have a problem then don't look.

I personally think it should be limited to infants and small children. I don't want to see grown adults obtaining mother's milk in public. I am just a bit of a prude.

Breastfeeding Dad Raises New Questions About Motherhood

The poll is private.
It's one thing to be a willing participant in the homosexual lifestyle but to bring an innocent baby into the mix is not only selfish but disgusting, sickening and taking it way too far.
