Heavy people are heavy, regardless if they have muscles, or not.
Tall people with a BMI in a healthy range don't need assistance getting up, are actually able to stand for 10 minutes in the waiting room if they feel the furniture won't support them (unlikely that will be a problem), and don't require special medical equipment to treat. There's a big difference between a 6'7" 250 lb guy with a 28 BMI (a regular BP cuff will still work on him) and a 5'4" 250 lb guy with a BMI of 43--morbidly obese.
If you're around 6'0", 200+ pounds, and not a bodybuilder, chances are that you really are overweight. It's no secret that this country is ballooning in obesity to the point where people no longer even recognize it when they see it.
Then maybe the doctor should refuse to see the obese person until they actually take steps to take care of themselves by beginning a diet and exercise regimen and dropping some weight.

This.
Seriously, considering that stuffing your face with garbage and sitting on your behind too much increases the incidence of Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, damage to joints for starters, what is the point of seeing an individual who can't be bothered to take the most basic care of themselves?
And besides, what happened to the notion that business owners have a right to serve or not serve whomever they please? Or do we now have porkers as a political force to be reckoned with?

And people whose BMI are in the "obese" range can't do all of these things? You do realize that there are countless of overweight and even obese people out there who don't need special chairs, can stand for more than 10 minutes, can even walk/job/RUN for miles, and don't need assistance to get up? Again, you can have a woman weigh as much as 250lb and, depending on her body shape and how she carries her weight, isn't physically much bigger than a woman of similar height who weighs 190lb.
200lb is such a weird amount-some people look horrific at that weight, can't fit into seats, and have major health complication and some people are practically athletes at that weight and need no special considerations in terms of cuff size and seating. Like I said before, once you hit 300lb, then you really start seeing the people who, short of being over 6'6", are physically much larger and may require reinforced equipment and extra help.

I hate to break it to you, but unless the woman is over 5'7" she's obese at 190 pounds, and unless she's well over 6' she's overweight at 190 pounds. A 250 pound person would have to be 7' tall to not be considered obese. Venus Williams is over 6' tall and weighs 165. Tosses the whole concept of athletes weighing more out the window...
There are no women and very few men that don't look fat at 200 pounds. Unfortunately this country has become desensitized to seeing fat people and fat has become the new normal.
200 pounds is not a large man unless he is very short.
I disagree unless you consider any man less than 6'2" very short. If a man is average or even above average in height (5'9" to 6'1") at 200 pounds they would be overweight and possibly borderline obese.
