You completely missed the point. I don't care who they turned away. The fact that the DNC, who "supposedly" stands for human rights is authorizing a group who HATES the things that the DNC stands for. Also, the extremists that will be speaking. Get it now? Does The Muslim Brotherhood connections ring a bell?
Christians also HATE what the DNC stands for, yet they let the Christian and Catholic groups have their events as well.
Frankly, I'm upset that the religious nutbags of any stripe have to be coddled and accomodated, but if you let one, you have to let all.
The ISSUE being made by right wing blogs is that they turned away the poor wittle Catholic guy who wanted to "bless" the convention, in favor of "opening" the convention with scary Muslim prayer. That is not the case by a long shot.
This event is on August 31st (that information provided by you). The Democratic National Convention starts Monday, September 3rd at 9am with an interfaith prayer event (Rooms 211 and 212AB of the Charlotte Convention Center - open to the public if you'd like to attend). How again is it "at" and "part of" something that doesn't start until 3 days after it's ended?
Just ignore the Troll His handle should be SDTT. SOUR D THE TROLL
Get this through your thick skull: It is as much "a part of the convention" as the Alabama Gospel Breakfast, also "authorized" by the DNC to take place at the same time.
What's your point? Do you even have one anymore? You object to a Muslim event at the DNC?
It was AUTHORIZED by the DNC. That means it is PART OF THEIR WHOLE GIG. Why would they have to get authorization from a group they have nothing to do with? Listen to yourself, you are not making any sense. Get that through YOUR thick skull.
You'll notice that refers to meta tags and other hidden text. Furthermore it mentions the use of "DNC" or any other name, trademark or product or service...
That reads as if the "DNC" is NOT trademarked to me, hence the comma before talking about trademarked items.
It's part of the convention and authorized by the DNC to be as such. PWNED!
Care to have a crack at responding to my earlier post, Sour?

Oh, by the way - the "Charlotte in 2012" website is not affiliated with the DNC at all. If you had taken 2 mins to read the website you'd have found this:
The Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee is a non-profit, non-partisan organization established by the city of Charlotte to fulfill obligations of the master contract with the Democratic National Convention Committee. In addition to those obligations, Charlotte in 2012 works to engage the citizens of Charlotte and the Carolinas through business and civic opportunities, ensure that the Convention leaves a positive lasting legacy, and tell Charlotte and the region's story to the nation and the world.
Are you going to claim that all of these events are affiliate with the DNC, too? They're all listed on the same page as the Jumah prayer in Marhsall Park.
Oh, those wacky Dems just love their college tailgate parties, don't they? It MUST be affiliated with the DNC. Same with the NASCAR Hall of Fame - we all know how progressive and liberal the NASCAR fanbase is.
I'm also sure you missed the other prayer gathering, right?
You know, the one you actually need to be credentialed to attend? Now THAT one *is* affiliated with the DNC. Notice it is listed as being organized by the DNC/DNCC?
Who is organizing the Jumah, again? You know, the Jumah prayer that you DON'T need to be credentialed to attend?

FInally, from the Islamic group's "About" page:
The Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs, (BIMA) as a non-profit organization is designed to serve and facilitate the efforts of Islamic organizations and Institutions in their endeavors as well as spread awareness about Indigenous Muslim issues. BIMA’s purpose in rallying large numbers of Muslims to participate in this event, Jumah at the DNC, is to make the general public aware that the Muslim community is a healthy and vibrant component to the American society. This platform is non-partisan; meaning that it is not an endorsement of any political candidate or elected official. It is intended to address the concerns and issues that are challenging to the American Muslim citizens in the 21st century.
I'm sure official convention documents will just be RIFE with calls for everyone to attend what is an non-partisan event that will not be calling for the endorsement of any particular elected official!
There are a host of events leading up to the Convention. Among them are a few Islamic events, the Jumah, a festival and a banquet. There's also a NASCAR event and a Gospel Brunch.
Who knows who approved these events but the fact remains that they were approved and are happening right before the DNC at the Convention site. I just see this as part of the Dem party on tolerance for the Islam in America.
The events were approved by the Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee or the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) and there is a disclaimer on the site that the events aren't endorsements by the party.
Which speaker at the DNC is going to talk about the murders in Egypt? Are they going to play it alongside of Hillary and Obama and Code Pinko cheering for the Arab Spring?

Oh give it up. It is part of the DNC. They are trying to appease the Brotherhood, which they have connections with.
