I guess my original question presupposes that conservatives do indeed consume salad, but ranch dressing is versatile.

What ever happened to thousand island? I thought that would be the conservatives' fav because it's so "traditional."
That is the secret sauces at In-N-Out burger, they of the bible passage reference on their food wrappers...

...
uhm it originated in Cali

from wiki:
In 1954, Steve and Gayle Henson opened Hidden Valley Ranch, a dude ranch near Santa Barbara, California. They served guests a dressing that Steve had developed

In 1972, the brand was bought by Clorox for $8 million

but no longer made in cali: At the current time, Clorox subsidiary Hidden Valley Ranch Manufacturing LLC produces ranch packets and bottled dressings at two large factories, in Reno, Nevada and Wheeling, Illinois

I prefer my salad and most of what I eat, au naturel.

If it don't taste good to start with, why bother?

What, you mean all ranch dressing isn't still made entirely by the couple that originated it back in the 50's?!! OMG! Next you're going to tell me there's more than one brand of the stuff!
