There are MANY light skinned Black Americans who are the product of two Black parents. My father is very light (think Colin Powell) and the vast majority of the Black people that I know are light skinned Black Americans or Black Creoles. I have family members who look as if they don't have a drop of African ancestry but we are ALL proud to be Black.

For many of us, the non-Black ancestor(s) are several generations back in our family tree. Some of us do not "look Black" but we still find it offensive for others to question our "Blackness" or to be referred to as "biracial".

i will defend a black person before a white person though.

thats one thing i have noticed about myself.

i will always defend a minority against a majority.

when i see these threads from white conservatives attacking blacks constantly, i will defend the blacks being attacked.

That's odd. If your people don't look black, how can they expect others to consider them black? Most people think like this: You are what you look like.

Most Black people can tell and others who can not are simply "informed".

Here's the thing...most biracials (B/W) today (or born post Loving v State of Virginia) are products of consensual relationships. However, the vast majority of Black Americans who are of mixed race ancestry are products of involuntarily relations (even post-Civil war) and the children usually took on the social status of the (Black) mother. So for generations lighter skinned Blacks were Black no matter how light or how European the features....the one-drop rule.

So biracials can claim whatever caublanasian they desire but I am Black and my family is Black and proud.

There is an interesting article on skin-bleaching today, unfortunately in German.
Some interesting facts: The bleaching business is worth about 40 billion dollars annually, about 4 times the size of the combined sun screen, tanning and bronzing market. 27% of non-white women worldwide use such bleaching products. The biggest markets are Japan, the Philippines, China, and India. Especially in Japan paleness has a very long tradition, dating back centuries.
It says that by nature female skin is 10 to 15% lighter than male skin across all ethnic groups.

It's like dropping oil into water, it's no longer water.
