Wow this is interesting and I am glad to see that people are disenchanted with where the unions have been going the past few years.

n the face of steep declines in union membership, organized labor is seeking to build support from young workers.
The challenge for unions is formidable. High unemployment rates for the young and the trend toward transient jobs make unionism an irrelevant concept for some workers.

Declining number of union members affects all workers’ salaries

You mean OUTSOURCING IS one of the issues with Union workers I can't imagine why!!!!!
When you have a president that makes a Jeffery Immelt GE his JOB CZAR who has outsourced jobs to China this is no wonder! Lets hope they don't vote for the Anti American in the White House this time around!

Labor unions were a dominant force in the economy in the 1950s, when they represented more than a third of American workers. Today, unionized workers represent about 12 percent of the workforce, and only 7 percent of private workers. Even in the most heavily unionized sector - the government, at 37 percent - they are under attack.

Most union members are government workers now. And just what is the union protecting those government workers from I wonder because government workers should have nothing to fear from their employer..the government.

They were at my plant (a fast-pace super warehouse; work force 80% under 35; about half-and-half between white Anglos and all monorities) last week. Nobody paid them much attention because base pay is openly pegged to local cost-of-living stats and everybody knows the plant could be easily moved if unionized.

They're about as much in synch with the real economy, and the real world, as these guys:
