I'm not sure you understood the point of this post. The point is Republicans today are extremely far from what the party stood for in the 'good old days'. People who agreed with Republican policies in the '50s will agree with most Democratic policies today. We need to open our eyes to the fact that the current day GOP isn't the compassionate conservatives who want to help people, as we saw a long time ago. The GOP today is leaning authoritarian, and does little to nothing to help the lower and middle classes. Times change, and so do parties. We need to understand how far the Republican party has fallen before we can start to fix it.

The republican party today is in favor of very few of those things. The democratic party is, however. If I posted that list without saying where it came from, I would more than likely be dismissed on this forum as being radically left wing.

I don't like either party today. I'd be happy if they both come towards the center a bit and start treating compromise as a strength rather than a weakness.

It’s hard to compromise when one party (the Democrats) want open borders, pro-illegals, pro-criminals, anti-police, anti-white, anti-Constitution, anti-national anthem, anti-flag, anti-history, anti-U.S., pro-China, pro-Iran, pro-Marxism, and are obsessed with race and practice reverse racism despite constantly claiming about being about equality.

The Democrats are at least pretending to come back to the middle.

Their convention was not representative of the party or you would have for sure seen a decent amount of "defund the police," "slave reparations," "abolish the police," "ANTIFA is a myth," "stand with ANTIFA," "ACAB," "give me give me free chit," etc.

The Eisenhowers aren't even the Eisenhowers anymore. (Or the Nixons for that matter.) Most of those families now support the Democrats.

I also heard that Honest Abe burned his GOP card in disgust years ago.

I disagree.

Just because you don't agree with someone's views or interpretations doesn't make them anti-constitution or anti-us. That's just labeling based on ignorant views.

This is precisely the attitude that makes compromise impossible.. the actual views and political points are always negotiable given the right people.

Let's put it this way... to simplify it. Two people have a disagreement. The first thing one does not do is insult the other if you are to expect them to compromise.

Neocons are a huge step left of the Nationalist populism that pretends to uphold the banner of the GOP today.

That's why more and more prominent elected Republicans and pundits are coming out of the woodwork to disavow allegiance to Trump.

What was assured political suicide for the last 3 1/2 years is now a calculated gamble to save Republican political values from turning into the authoritarian Nationalist camp that happens to fly the banner of the GOP.

Yep. The good old days.
Family structure was much more in place. That allows the environment to grow despite the circumstances.

Yes - real Republicans like Romney say vote for the Democrats.

Just tell me who is for the country.
