President Obama DID NOT control Congress for Two Years

Democrats had a 60 seat majority from September 24, 2009 thru February 4, 2010. 4 months; not 2 years

Democrats lost their 60 seat majority when Republican Scott Brown of Massachusetts was sworn into office in February of 2010.
I don't know what you are expecting with this.

OK - they lost their 60 seat majority - and replaced it with a 59 seat majority. That stopped Obama and the Dems from doing what they wanted?

If anything stopped the Dems it was public pressure and accountability towards the elected officials - which is how government should work in America.

Why didn't the DREAM Act pass then?

When was the Dream Act brought up for a vote? I thought Obama just issued an Executive Order and bypassed that silly Congress thing!

It used to. It's much less common in the past few years. Certainly you can pass legislation with a simple majority, but you can't run roughshod over the minority to do so.

It's interesting that the president who promised to work across the aisle can only get things accomplished when he has a SUPER Majority. Not sure but don't think that is how bipartisanship is supposed to work. Wouldn't it be nice if the party in control of both houses (Dems for 2 years) actually tried to work with the minority instead of just ramming things down their throats?

If you don't know the DREAM Act came up for a vote, then you shouldn't be commenting on Politics.
