That's like saying you would abort someone who is born without reproductive organs...Not all children are going to become adults who will bear grandchildren...What they are talking about here is the practice of aborting girls...it's a cultural thing going on here in Canada...among some new immigrants from Asia...The real questions should be...Is it okay to wage ware on the female unborn?
Would it be okay for a mother to abort a child based on gender?
(For example, she only wanted a male child.)
I say no on a personal level but yes on a legal level because she doesn't have to tell me her choice. I'm not pro-abortion. I don't believe it should be used for birth control or as a means to get what you wanted (I.e a male child)
However, I have a close friend who has sickle cell and then was diganosed with a mental illness at a late age. Doctors wouldn't tie her tubes so she & her husband were using birth control and she got pregnant. Because of the amount of meds she was on & the fact that the illness is hereditary she chose to abort (very early in the pregnancy)
I don't know that I would have made the same decision for myself but I am glad she had the option to do what she felt was best.
