Top Arizona court: tattoo is protected speech - US news - Crime & courts - NBCNews.com

This is the first time any high court has ruled that tattooing is a form of free speech. I see it as a victory for freedom and liberty.

It only ruled that the county superior court erred in dismissing the suit. The zoning board still can prevent the business from setting up shop in its jurisdiction according to the article.

More judicial activism run amok. It would surely have the founding fathers scratching their heads.

Next thing you know public nudity will be constitutionally protected speech.

Interesting to have the extreme of both the commie left and the theocratic right on the same thread.

I think that running any business is a right but not as to where they can be located.

No I don't. But there a couple things I don't think should be protected under "free speech". I think it waters down the whole idea behind free speech and makes society weak.

People should be free to tattoo whatever they want, but "free speech" it isn't IMO. No more than plastic surgery or having hair plugs.

I have seen some pretty scary stuff tattooed on people, major Nazi stuff, hate symbols. I suppose, it is "free speech", but it is offensive, to me. I guess, people can express their views, on their bodies. And, I can express my views as well, by not hiring those folks, or patronizing any establishments, who hire folks like that.

Do you agree in that same line of thought that people can refuse to hire blacks because their skin is offensive to them?
