Granholm had to get obama to save GM because she did the biggest tax hike in yrs to the Michigan people!

In 2007 Governor Jennifer Granholm signed the biggest tax increase in Michigan history, with most of the $1.4 billion coming from business. The personal income tax—which hits nonincorporated small businesses—was raised to 4.2% from 3.95%, and the Michigan business tax levied a surcharge of 22%.
The tax money was dedicated to the likes of education, public works, job retraining and corporate subsidies. Ms. Granholm and her union allies called these "investments," and the exercise was widely applauded as a prototype of "progressive" budgeting.

Some prototype.
Every state has seen a big jump in joblessness since 2007, but with a 15.2% unemployment rate Michigan's jobs picture is by far the worst.
Some 750,000 private-sector payroll jobs have vanished since the start of the decade. For every family that has moved into Michigan since 2007, two have sold their homes and left.

OBAMA DIDN'T SAVE DETROIT, JUST FIRED PLENTY OF PEOPLE

Obama had to fire thousands of these people, and reduce the benefits and pensions of those who were left. If the righties here would have had their way there would be no GM and many more thousands would be out of work, the voting public knows that fact. Besides don't righties hate Unions and state as much on a regular basis. So we shall see how they vote, if they are totally uniformed they may vote for Repubs if they know who is really on their side they will help re-elect Obama.

It's true that the stodgy conservative marketing strategies contributed highly to the industry's demise.
The "bailout" came with strings attached for the companies to change their ways. Much needed, and not required by bankruptcy.

Obama stole workers pensions because they weren't in a union that was in obamas' pocket.

The biggest string attached was the unions gaining ownership in the company. No bankruptcy doesn't require you to change your business practice. You shouldn't have a business anymore if your "practice" causes you do go out of business to begin with. Not if your a union business though.

Flunking history and economics are par for the course for the overwhelming majority of Democrats, and have been for decades.

Democrats claim that Romney opposed the plan to save GM and Chrysler is a lie.

Mitt Romney wanted a “managed bankruptcy” to negotiate with unions and other stakeholders for reductions in pay and benefits in return for government help.

Romney “A managed bankruptcy may be the only path to the fundamental restructuring the industry needs,” he wrote. “It would permit the companies to shed excess labor, pension and real estate costs. The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.”

Eventually, GM and Chrysler underwent managed bankruptcies in a different manner than Romney proposed. Instead private loan guarantees, obama bought stock in new car companies formed as a result of the bankruptcies . The government still owns some of that stock.

President George W. Bush also provided emergency help for the car makers

Who cares about Detroit? Eventually, even Ford and GM are going to bail out of that failed city. The people of Detroit have voted themselves failure for nearly 50 years. Let it burn to the ground. We are better off with it burn down and covered over with farm land. At least if the farmers can grow corn the land has some value.
