Economics. At the time we fought the British, we were propped up by the British economy. As the British were siphoning sugar (for rum), tea, spices and precious metals from India, the coastal colonies played a large role in importing the goods to mainland for resale to other regions. No one is propping up these other nations with an abundance of stolen resources and as a result, they cannot afford to fight.
