You miss the important part: the response! Whether it's leaked or not, the response is that "he's too busy".

He wants peace and security for Israel. He will talk as long as there are results. So far, there haven't been any.

Look at the global effort it took just to implement sanctions on Iran. THAT is working towards peace.
That isn't good enough for Netanyahu, and he wants to force the US into drawing a line without any support on the world stage.

I appreciate Obama's stand on doing things on our terms and not Netanyahu's.
Sanctions are not working. Read up on it. Iran just announced that their nuclear capabilties are coming along well.

You are being driven by FEAR!
No, not fear. Reality. Israel should and does have the right to defend itself. I'm surprised that more Jews in this country don't support Israel and its security, even if they have no intention of returning.
The reality is that Ahmadinejad said that if Israel strikes, he will target America.

Should not our President take every opportunity to work toward a peaceful solution, if one is to be had, since Iran directly threatens our security and safety?

Ahmadinejad is being patronized and given more visibility than he deserves, while Netanyahu is marginalized.

Outside of intelligence operations, how many Isreali soldiers were involved in the Iraq war?

Do you think Isreal will turn against the US for this? Should we go along with whatever Netanyahu no matter what without the support of our other allies?

Good point.

After all, in the past two weeks Obama has attended at least six different campaign events and fundraisers, from Colorado to Florida to Virginia, seven if you count his night at the Democrat Convention in North Carolina. Nearly all his waking hours have been spent travelling to and from these events, as well as actually giving speeches etc. at them.

President Obama is a busy man, and can't be expected to drop all these important functions for a meeting with a mere Prime Minister of our closest ally while that country is under imminent threat of nuclear attack from the most significant terrorist nation on the planet.

The nerve of Bibi Netanyahu! Doesn't he know what's really important to Obama?

Breaking: Obama Turns Down Meeting with Israeli PM Netanyahu

Haaretz reports:
The White House declined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request on Tuesday to meet U.S. President Barack Obama during a UN conference in New York at the end of the month.
An official in Jerusalem said that the prime minister’s office sent the White House a message stating that although Netanyahu will spend only two and a half days on U.S. soil, he is interested in meeting Obama and is willing to travel to the U.S. capital specifically for that purpose. The official added that the White House rejected the request and said that at this time Obama’s schedule does not allow for a meeting.
The White House’s response marks a new low in relations between Netanyahu and Obama, underscored by the fact that this is the first time Netanyahu will visit the U.S. as prime minister without meeting the president.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak reportedly tried smoothing things over, but Bibi is having none of it.
“The world tells Israel â€wait, there’s still time’. And I say, â€Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” Netanyahu told reporters on Tuesday.
“Now if Iran knows that there is no red line. If Iran knows that there is no deadline, what will it do? Exactly what it’s doing. It’s continuing, without any interference, towards obtaining nuclear weapons capability and from there, nuclear bombs,” he said.

What is so shocking? Everyone knows that Muslims hate Jews.

Israel is not going to turn against us for this, thats just silly. But with tensions, yet again rising with Israel and Iran, I think the President could easily set some time aside to talk with the man for an hour or two. We arent the ones being threatened with a reasonable threat of annihilation. Obama has had time for radio interviews, Entertainment interviews, ect. He could make time IF HE WANTED TO, for Netanyahu.

He doesnt want to. The guy again, doesnt show much leadership. We have Israel and Iran, this close to going at it. Why not be a leader and step in and see what you can do? You think Reagan wouldve said, " I dont have time, im campaigning." Hell, I dont think Clinton wouldve said that. Clinton, while I dont like the man, had some leadership skills. Obama does not.

This is an opportunity for him to show leadership, he passed it up. Again.

Considering that the US sent Obama's National Security Adviser to Israel last week to tell them not to bomb Iran, it is unlikely that Obama feels that there's anything more to be said.

Also, in the long term, how do you stop a technologically advanced and determined nation from getting hold of 70 year old technology? And isn't Israel's current nuclear arsenal enough to deter a conventional first strike from Iran?

What an arrogant view. But, of course, Obama would only be thinking about what he wants to say. It would never occur to him that maybe -- just maybe -- Netayanu isn't asking for an opportunity to listen to Obama. Maybe it would be a good idea for Obama to do some listening.

While there is still time.
