And so the response of the US government was to support these protestors rather than support US citizens' rights to freedom of speech? I think that's not a very good side to have taken (and clearly that is now the case).
No, the U.S. Egyptian Embassy issued the statement before the protests began. That guy in Flordia who almost started an international incident by burning a Quran made a movie dissing Mohammed. I'm guessing they were trying to calm people down and prevent a backlash by showing they disagreed with that dweeb.
Boy, my point just went right over your head! Clinton was president during many muslim terrorist attacks against our nation (including the 1993 bombing of the WTC and two US Embassies being bombed in Africa) and he used the FBI against muslim terrorist world wide. Obama's statement reflects Clinton's views back then.

Firstly.... the statement was from the Embassy in Egypt and not from the Whitehouse..............
In a tweet late Tuesday night, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggested not only that the Obama administration had responded to the attacks in Egypt and Libya with sympathy – as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney argued– but that President Obama himself personally sympathizes with the attackers.
Priebus’ words came before the White House confirmed that the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other diplomats had been killed.
Both accusations are based on a statement from the Cairo embassy, released before the attacks, which condemned “the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” (Protesters were spurred by clips of an anti-Muslim film.)
The Obama administration has distanced itself from that statement, saying it was not approved by Washington and “doesn’t reflect the views of the U.S. government.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the attacks in a statement Tuesday night; Obama released a statement condemning them Wednesday morning. While the Cairo embassy statement remains online, it was taken off the embassy homepage and embassy staff have deleted tweetsthat defended the comments.
Once again the Republican party refuses to let Facts get in the way of their rhetoric.
But this is the tribe we flew thousands of bombing sorties against to help out the other tribe that is now in power.
Apparently they still want vengeance.
This is surprising? Or outrageous?
In fact, this goes hand in hand with sticking your nose in the affairs of other countries, and killing their citizens, against the wishes of hundreds of thousands of their fellow Libyans.
Regardless of what tribe won.
Our foreign policy is one thing to debate, but these people did this recent act because they were offended by a movie, just like they were offended over a cartoon before that. There is no defending them for their violence and it shows there is a deep divide between cultures that can't be bridged.
Nothing wrong with his statement. The Obama WH first statement yesterday was basically an apology, which is disgraceful.
And certainly, Romney's remarks today were better than Obamas. Obama seemed lifeless, little emotion. Like a third grader reading a report. Hillary's statement was even better than Obamas remarks today. Obama is not a leader, and he demonstrated that again today and yesterday.
No, they are suppose to stir things up and get people to act with even more violence! Yeah, that's right!!! That's what the point of our embassies around the world is!!!! "You hate us for our freedoms!!!! You aren't fit to like the feet of Americans, motherf'ers!!!!!!"
Muslims hate the feet of Americans? That in the Koran?

And you have some here taking the side of the Muslims. Unbelievable.
