Judging from the sob story written by the Tribune, it seems like she is the victim, not the 5 year old she ran over.

Quote:
Last week, Rousso, 18, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of an intoxicating compound after a crash that killed a 5-year-old girl in Highland Park and injured her mother and two brothers.

Carly Rousso said she was afraid to sleep. After the Highland Park teenager was attacked by a pit bull three years ago, she had frequent nightmares in which an animal — often a dog but always something with teeth — would attack her.

Rousso's therapist said in a deposition that Rousso had post-traumatic stress disorder. She said Rousso made the gymnastics team but left it early because of a continuing fear of dogs, hallucinations and hypervigilance about covering and protecting her back.

Nope, the victim is the 5 year old kid she hit after deciding to get behind a wheel of a car drunk.

If she's having ptsd because of the dog attack, then get some help for it.

It looks like she has, her myspace page has recently deleted, but some of the pictures remain, she appears the one in the middle

Well, that's what you get for reading the Trib. It's been a rag since forever.

Let me read between the lines....

Spoiled girl from rich HP family (note moms art gallery) uses sob-story to get daughter from facing serious charges....and had one heckuva lawyer $$$.

My buddy was from HP and while he was cool....his highschool friends were a bunch of rich, spoiled, druggies that were all diagnosed with *something*.

Enjoy the system you libs created. Everything is someone else's fault no personal responsibility. What does a dog attack 3 years ago have to do with driving drunk?

Pathetic attempt to make this a partisan issue... feel better, now that you've politicized a 5 year-old's death?

That being said, this is no more the fault of "rich people" than it is of "liberals" or anyone else... she did something stupid, an innocent child was killed because of it, and her family's financial status only means she's able to hire a good lawyer. I grew up in a wealthy neighborhood/family myself, and most folks were decent/honest like anyone else - so the stereotyping is both unnecessary & irrelevant. Sucks she'll probably walk with probation, and we can only hope she'll CHOOSE to give back to society (and the child's family) somehow.

PTSD my butt. That's just the defense her lawyer came up with, and even if she were suffering from PTSD, it's hardly an excuse for driving drunk... there are no excuses for that, period.

Some people say whatever they can to stay out of prison. Given that prison doesn't have the best reputation in regards to hospitality, are you sure you wouldn't try to make up some ridiculous BS to save your ass?

Can't say what I would do...

I'm not railing on all rich people, I'm merely pointing out that anyone well acquainted with Highland Park knows that it has a reputation for having a lot of spoiled J.A.P.'s. Anyone that has attended a major university in IL has met them too. It's like a whole bunch of "snooki's" running around.

There are a lot of poor kids and middle class kids that do bad things too, they just can't get great lawyers that can work the whole PTSD angle.

BTW, does it even say she was drunk? From the wording it may be that she was lit up on oxycontin etc. Again, the trib generally does a crappy job so it's hard to say.
