After all - their tagline used to be "television for women" - and they still do aim for a female target audience.

Why is there no "television for men"?

Also, why do many of Lifetime's movies seem to portray women as crime victims?

Isn't that a negative portrayal of women - and wouldn't it be better to broadcast programs that present women as strong, capable, and independent?

Well - my teen-ager refers to it as the 'man-hating' channel. So, that's definitely the perception. I rarely watch it.

Spike is prominently advertised as television for men. G4 less so, but shares a lot of the same programming ethos.

The latter portion of your post I can't speak to because I would rather slam my foot* in a car door than watch Lifetime television (And I am a liberal, and consider myself feminist, but what they're pushing = tripe)

*Foot was not the first body part I listed before editing, FYI.

Are you bored?

But just to tickle your fancy, have you ever heard of Spike TV?

Much of the network's programming certainly depicts negative stereotypes of males. As for their made-for-television movies; they seem to have four general themes: men who kill women, men who sexually assault women, men who sexually assault children, and women who overcome all of the horrible things men do to them.

What would a channel for men look like I wonder? Porn...sports...porn...someone acting badass...I'm really not sure what men would want to see.

Woman have historically been facinated by human drama. Before Lifetime it was soaps, and it almost always involved men manipuating women in some way. Why? Because that's life.

Lifetime is moving away from those women victim stories and going more towards true crime movies.

I enjoyed Fatal Honeymoon, an Officer & a Murder, & I'm looking forward to the Karlina White story.
Although I wish they weren't remaking Steel Maganolis...don't know if I'll watch that
