Yup, and buying two likely means more:
-Plastic for lids
-Plastic for straws
-Paper for cups
-Paper for straw wrappers
-Water for ice cubes
-Paper for a slightly longer reciept

I hope he causes a huge garbage pile up in the city....not likely but I'd love to see one ill-conceived do-gooder campaign totally blow up another...ie the environmental one. I mean I support environmental causes and all, but maybe if this ends up screwing up something they love they will rethink it.

For the 1st time in City-Data history I think the consensus is unanimous. EVERYBODY is against this ban. Even those who are pro-fitness.

This will accomplish nothing. We all know prohibition doesn't work.

I heard it passed ,this is just as bad as the incoming health law.I don't live in NYC but seriously, telling me no more big sodas. Is this country going communist or what ? If America wants to know about the so called ' obesity problem " they need to concerate on campaigning to get people to exercise more, walk more to their destinations instead of driving everywhere .Sorry,I have the brain cells,Mrs.Odummer to know if I order an extra large Pepsi ,burger and large fries it is not healthy .It called common sense.

Since we now have the precedent of taxing bad behavior, I can't see why the mayor just didn't put a high tax on big drinks to price it out of reach of the consumer. We're doing it with cigs why not drinks as well.

This is completely unconstitutional. And insane. Bloomberg obviously has too much time on his hands.

Wouldn't it seem necessary to measure progress to see how effective this is? How can somebody declare that 32oz sodas are making people fat without having a way to track progress? Are the results of legislation not important? What is going to happen in 5 years when people are still fat?
