Couldn't someone just step on it and kind of twist the foot and grind it into the ground?
The spider is already dead. Apparently, they had to kill it to do more research on it and confirm what kind of spider it was. So, what it boils down to is this variety of spider has only been seen twice EVER and then went ahead and killed it.

Well, there must be more where that one came from.
They found 2 spiders in a 30 year period. What if those were the only 2 left and now they are all gone ?
How long will they take to determine if there are any more..30 more years ?
It's as pathetic as San Antonio, they found 4 (four) snail darters living in a pool (snail darters came from Africa btw) and since then all of SA has to put up with draconian EPA water restrictions...
I once got put on hold by a brown recluse bite on my lower back. 4 mos of rotting flesh and pain. I kill all spiders I see now. and don't report it am I bad?
I actually think it is kind of sad how greedy people are in putting their personal needs before anyone or anything else.
FYI, besides the obvious problem of the entire delta in California being screwed up due to people farming a desert, the collapse of the salmon industry costs the economies in northern California a fortune. Funny how people conveniently forget to mention that in newspaper articles. It's easy to rile people up with sensational articles about a tiny fish ruining farmer's when you don't have to mention the massive economic hit to another part of the state.
For the record, we have a ton of farmland in California that has plenty of access to water without massive diversions as well as plenty of farming practices that are actually beneficial to the environment.
Yeah it's a big deal down here in San Antonio. The Construction is for a heavily congested area where two highways meet. Currently you have to stop at lights which really backs things up during rush hour. What gets me is the area has exploded with development these past few years, all around the area are new houses, shopping centers, etc.. haulting this project will do nothing cause the area around the project has already been built up quite a bit. People probably kill these spiders all the time. As to guy at the end of the article hes an idiot. You move to the fastest growing part of town and expect to have no traffic really? O well hopefully things get cleared up and all this taxpayer money isn't lost for goood.
