Yeah... except for that whole marrying the consenting adult you love, and receiving all associated benefits - and in some states, protection against employment & housing discrimination under the law. Little things like that, no biggie.
If the Republicans had their way, Roe v Wade would be repealed tomorrow.
If it was up to the states, it would be repealed tomorrow.
The left KNEW they couldn't get abortion approved through the state legislatures, so they went the court route knowing they had a left leaning court,

Except getting married is a privilege, not a right. A very liberal lawyer provided the legal definition of a right, getting married isn't a right.
Republicans cannot repeal Roe vs Wade. I am a constitutionalist, and don't see eye to eye with either R or D.
SO, We know they cannot repeal Roe vs Wade, what's next?
1) Republicans often mention personal freedom as something to cherish and protect above all else, that this is the main idea behind the constitution. They oppose government intervention in peoples' personal lives. Why then do they oppose gay rights, legalizing marijuana, and abortion? Doesn't forbidding those cause government to interfere in other peoples lives?
2) Another common theme in the Republican Party is that they all seem to want to reduce spending to balance the budget. Why then do they fume at the mention of targeting military spending for a portion of these cuts? Military spending accounts for 4.7 % of GDP, second highest percentage in the world and by far the highest in dollars among all other countries. You'd think that being such a high figure it would receive proportional attention in cost cutting, but instead Republican leaders want to strengthen the military by protecting it from spending cuts. It's counter-intuitive.
Very general and probably not comprehensive, but:
1. I don't think they are against human/gay rights in the least. Only gay marriage alone. The reasons range from not considering marriage a right, homosexuality not being absolute (as compared to something like skin color), slippery slope, etc.
Abortion, because they believe the unborn child is a citizen and abortion is the killing of an innocent, basically unjustified murder.
Marijuana, I seriously doubt all or even most Republicans care that strongly about it, but can see how those in either party could have concern over a slippery slope with this; e.g., first marijuana, then cocaine, meth, bath salts... could create a very dangerous situation for public safety with widespread use.
2. It's agreed that we need a strong military, but it should also be efficient and waste should be reduced.
