There really is no need for the continued separation of country of origin when you are a naturally-born American Citizen. However, since I don't see a move to stop using titles such as this, I think it's time white people started using the hyphenated European-American.
Please use European-American for all references pertaining to white people.

Yes. If other naturally-born American citizens refuse to fully assimilate or identify fully with themselves as Americans, then, in order to receive equal weighting, white people should ask to be called European-American (or Australian American, etc). So there is no need for condescension. If, indeed, the white population is trending toward a decrease, it only makes sense to make sure they receive the same attention and equal right to enjoy the types of comradery that other groups are able to have. I'm just asking for respect and the equal right to use the hyphen before the term "American."

Italians often refer to themselves as Italian Americans and nobody ever makes a stink about that. If a black person wants to call themselves African American that is their right, however it would make more sense to call themselves black American. I could see why somebody would be proud to call themselves black, but I could never see why anybody would be proud to call themselves African!
