Oh my, another conspiracy theory for you....You should warn people so we can be sure to have our protective tinfoil hats ready....
What is tinfoil about that? Those little cards you use at the stores for discounts are big business so is RFID. They sell the info. The DMVs also do it. It is big money. Please tell me how that is a tin foil conspiracy? NM that it can be used to maximize profit.
Our bill went DOWN. Substantially. A/C and lights come on whenever we need them. Even on the hottest days everything just chugs along.
No high-pitched noise. No one is glowing in the dark. No men in black suits saying, "Them! Cut their power!" No black helicopters hovering over the neighborhood.
Just a lot less money going to the power company every month.More for us. Less for them. Awesome.
In Nevada they allow you to delay installation, but not to fully opt out. This woman wanted her SmartMeter removed, which they installed without her permission. They refused, so she had it removed herself, and installed an analog. They showed up on her property with guns. Read her story.

Yep. Everyone I know with smart meters loves them.
The government is pushing this smart grid crap down our throats
He needs to push even harder. Our electric grid is an absolute joke and we lose about 50% of our energy just in transit over that garbage. Moving to the more advanced digital grid would save this country billions in the long run, and that's on top of the environmental benefits.

Nobody discussed black helicopters. Many places bills have gone up and there are irregular electrical issues. Glad you are happy. Customers should have a choice.
That is health issues aside.

Customers have plenty of choices, but why should sticking with antiquated and inefficient technology be one of them?
People talk about wanting less energy dependence, a smart grid that can more effectively manage power consumption is one of those ways.
But, my hot water is solar, and my electricity bill is about 25 bucks a month as it stands, so... California, ain't it grand? No heater, and (rarely) an A/C.

We don't need more government interference, Obama's EPA is closing coal power plants, with nothing at all to replace them. Our electrical grid will be a joke, when we don't have enough energy to keep the lights on.
That's because the smart meters are doing what they are intended to do: hammer people who insist on using high energy loads during peak hours.

Smart meters are relatively new technology. The kinks will get sorted out.

Actually, they really shouldn't. I fail to see any logical argument why a customer's preference should hold up progress of the energy grid. Failing that though, I'd be willing to give them the choice provided they pay, and pay greatly, for their choice. Give em the carrot or the stick.

See, this is why you guys don't get taken seriously. You would see us take progress to a grinding halt over some sweeping, half baked ideological talking point (government/regulation = bad) when the benefits would be immense. Thankfully, the vast majority of America doesn't subscribe to that theory.
Also, we'll just be seeing a switch to more nuclear and alternative energy sources to replace the coal plants.
