I don't think I understand. Could you explain how solving our economic issues, whatever that might mean, would go very far to resolve deeply seated and largely religiously based differences on abortion, same-sex marriage, and other social issues?
Do you not see that both parties are using social issues to distract us as opposed to fixing the economic problems in this country? I think more importantly we need to focus on the issues that Lepew and Dman proposed which are certainly bigger problems right now.
usually when people mention compromise, they talk about taking away individual liberties and/or expanding goverment. something that the Libertarian party wont back down on.
The part they don't get is, every government takes away some individual liberties some of the time, or it wouldn't be a government. The question is, how far is too far to be tolerable.

That's a very different question. The question I asked is how solving economic problems will solve the social problems the poster identified. Regardless of how the economy is doing, or how the federal budget looks, there still remain deep divisions on those social issues.
You may say that they're a sideshow, but they are very important to many people on both sides of the partisan divide. Like me. It doesn't matter who the president is, or what's happening with the economy, I will never get to the point of saying, "Well, the economy's in such good shape I really don't care about women's right to choose anymore."

Keeping the gov out of our private lives as much as possible is the most neutral way to deal with social issues and keep them from becoming political distractions.

You are talking to the partisans.... they have been trained to focus on the social issues
You and I and the other free thinkers know the truth that the most pressing issues by far are the ones listed by Lepew earlier in the thread
My 3rd party would be focused on fiscal responsibility and social liberty. It would also be about downsizing our military and investing more on infrastructure and its population.
So your party wants free love cut the military and spend on government jobs. So how is this different from Dems
