The topic is not about "sex offenders" but specifically pedophiles. I agree about sex offenders. If an 18 year old has consentual sex with his 16 year old girlfriend, he should not be on a sex offender list for life. But I have no mercy for pedophiles.

Very few pedophiles in our society are labeled as "sex offenders". Pedophiles choose and groom their victims, carefully making sure they will not be caught, and if they are, they try to make it seem justified.
Look at the scandal in the Catholic religion, where pedophiles were caught,, "repented", and were transfereed to a new area.
Pedophiles exist in our society, and prey on the most trusting, children. Sociopath pedophiles plan their seduction, that is part of the thrill for these perverts.
Don't twist this discussion about pedophiles, into an agenda about sex offenders, a completely different topic.
In time they will be celebrated when they "come out". It might take another 20 years....but it's going to happen.
Who will be celebrated when they "come out?" Come out of where? Who? I sure hope you're not making any reference at all to gays by that, given that practically ALL PEDOPHILES ARE HETEROSEXUAL MALES.

No doubt about it. There are some innocents that end up being charged for things they didn't do. For ex., there have been people who were serving on death row, and were exonerated. However, of the total, the ones found to be on death row wrongly were still few. Few is too many, but it is still few.
It's a shame people aren't born with an empathy rating tattooed on their forehead. Of course, if that were the case we'd have too few CEOs, too few military leaders, too few a-holes telling everyone else how to live, too few Republicans, too few criminals and thugs, too few abusive husbands, too few serial killers, and few religious leaders, because all those with a significantly low empathy scale rating would've had their sociopathic @#$ kicked long ago, been sent away to a prison island, and no one would have a thing to do with them.
That empathy rating would be great. It's scary to think about how many people who have real power, and receive respect in our country have no empathy, and simply don't care about the problems and pain they create for others.
