A Massachusetts man is seeking visitation rights to the child he fathered after raping a 14-year-old girl, setting the stage for a legal battle in the Bay State.
The teen mother was raped by the 20-year-old family friend three years ago and says she still suffers from severe anxiety and depression. She says she is terrified at the prospect of having any dealings with her tormentor, reports MyFoxBoston.com.

The controversy is that this is actually an issue. IMHO this guy should still be in jail and, if ever released, forbidden from having any contact with the victim or her family under the penalty of permanent incarceration. A simpler solution would be a public humiliation and hanging.

Right wing conservatives in the US, especially hyper religious evangelical protestants, love to claim that rape is only "legitimately rape" if the woman fights back. If she's drugged so she doesn't fight back then they think it is not rape, if it is a child molested by an adult then it isn't "legitimate rape", if it is teen found to be statutorily raped then they think it isn't rape. Yes, these right wing nutjobs are evil people with crap for brains but they think most women who were raped secretly wanted it or are lying about just because they want to have an abortion therefor these nutjobs want to redefine rape so that an exception for abortion in the case of rape won't be allowed. It's absolutely disgusting and hateful but that's what many Republicans want.
Then they have the nerve to claim they're not attacking women's rights or treating women as second class citizens.

That was one Republican who said that. Going by the way you are defining conservatives, that must mean all progressives/liberals are Socialists who hold the US Constitution in contempt! I personally don't believe that, I am just using your standards for judging. By the way, 10/1 the judge is a liberal.
The judge in this case should be held in contempt of common sense and taken off the bench. The rapist needs to be sentenced to do some real prison time. Since he can not be re-tried for the same crime, send him to prison for breaking probation by terrorizing this family again.

Paul Ryan used forcible rape in the language in his bill until public outcry made him change it. Santorum said that women should be forced to keep the baby and make the best of a situation. Rep. Pete Degraaf suggested women should plan for rape the way he carries around a spare tire. There's quotes from Ron Paul and a lot of others, it wasn't just him that's said it if you want more just ask and I'll be glad to add more when I get back in later.
