It is so sad that so many paranoid and low information people can be so easily misled. A failure of education, a triumph of propaganda.

Quote:
Primetime coverage of global warming at Fox News is overwhelmingly misleading, according to a new report that finds the same is true of climate change information in the Wall Street Journal op-ed pages.

Both outlets are owned by Rupert Murdoch's media company News Corporation. The analysis by the science-policy nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) finds that 93 percent of primetime program discussions of global warming on Fox News are inaccurate, as are 81 percent of Wall Street Journal editorials on the subject.

"It's like they were writing and talking about some sort of bizarre world where climate change isn't happening," study author Aaron Huertas, a press secretary at UCS, told LiveScience.

The fact that Republicans prefer propaganda to real news following real journalism standards for accuracy and honesty goes a long way towards explaining how they know so little about, well, everything. People who watch no news at all are better informed about facts and events than people who watch Fox News and the more Fox they watch the less informed they become. They're in the bubble of delusional propaganda and they're afraid to face reality because they know the real world isn't what they imagine it to be.

They're like frightened children which would be cute if it wasn't for the fact that their average age is 56 yet they're still acting (not to mention just as clueless as) small children.

How facts backfire - The Boston Globe

Quote:
Facts don’t necessarily have the power to change our minds. In fact, quite the opposite. In a series of studies in 2005 and 2006, researchers at the University of Michigan found that when misinformed people, particularly political partisans, were exposed to corrected facts in news stories, they rarely changed their minds. In fact, they often became even more strongly set in their beliefs. Facts, they found, were not curing misinformation. Like an underpowered antibiotic, facts could actually make misinformation even stronger.
Most likely, this is not limited to conservatives.

This whole thread points out why politicizing science and information was/is a bad idea. People seem to have to filter facts for ideological legitimacy before thinking about them. I think older, partisan conservatives are particularly addicted to this sort of media (witness the popularity of Fox, and all sorts of RW partisan radio shows and books), but hardcore liberals can be pretty bad too, with their PC stuff. Militant partisans are the most clueless. Just look at these forums.

We should be listening to the scientists on the global warming topic though. If conservatives were in power, we would be a global pariah, with the best scientists and finest research universities in the history of the world, yet still acting like an ignorant, third world theocracy. Other countries would shocked by our militant ignorance. As they should be.

Politicized science?????? Liberals are guilty of pushing this.

Folks, look at the geologic record. There have been huge climate changes over the eons, including those "tropical" epics when man did not even know how to build a campfire.

The Murdoch’s and Romney’s of this world only collect, enhance and preserve wealth. They recognize no restraints in their quest. If they need to propagandize a collection of old fools in order to maintain their existing investments in coal fired electricity that is acceptable and worth the cost. If the need to steal worker’s pension funds so be it. If they need to foment wars over petroleum and reap the profits from military contracting that is acceptable.

Anything that gets in the way of their obsession with money is lied about, crushed and ignored. Global warming is just the current example. They will never let facts get in the way of profit.

Propaganda?

Um, who moved the goal posts from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change?"

NEWS FLASH: The climate is supposed to change. It was never intended to be static.

You can't provide a single shred of evidence to support your silly claim that the climate is changing; you can't even prove that what is taking place is abnormal; and you still don't understand the meaning of "Interglacial Period."

Since apparently your education lacked books, atlases or maps, here's your real Earth....

...good luck living in that environment.

Scientifically...

Mircea

Only because everyone who replied agreed with you so far....... just let someone disagree and you will spew your utter hatred toward them because you are intolerant of different opinions....as has been shown by your temper tantrums seen on every thread when someone disagrees with you

Me, there is climate change, but the VAST majority is due to natural changes in the Earth..... only a tiny fraction is caused by man and will not affect the future dramatically..... facts say so no matter how much your buddy Gore wants you to make him a billionaire
