Dearborn Muslims rally against the First Amendment

Led by a newspaper publisher, Muslim activists will call for putting limits on American free speech at a Dearborn rally this evening. You can't make this stuff up.

Nearly a decade after Dearborn's streets celebrated America for bringing down Saddam Hussein and opening a door to democracy in the Mideast, the same city will be the epicenter today of calls to squelch free speech. Protesting the film, "Innocence of Muslims," that has sparked protests in the Mideast, rally organizer Tarek Baydoun says that so-called blasphemy laws are necessary to prevent speech that hurts the "the religious feelings of Muslims."

This assault on the First Amendment in the name of the prophet Mohammed is a sad day in America - and confirms fears that Muslim-American activists do not understand the fundamental separation of church and state in the American Constitution.

"There is a need for deterrent legal measures against those individuals or groups that want to damage relations between people, spread hate and incite violence," said Arab-American News publisher Osama Siblani, a self-proclaimed "moderate" who is apparently oblivious to how gutting the First Amendment would affect his own business.

How do ya like that, exercising free speech to protest against freedom of speech, who would have thought.

This is probably what happens in a country where freedom of speech isn't tolerated:

They can protest all they want. Never going to happen. Someone needs to explain to them that if they can't handle it, the United States may not be the best place for them to live.

Wow. And here I was watching for something to come out of Dearborn and when nothing did I was glad.
Seems they just waited a while.

Why did they move here if they do not like our laws ? You move to a country then you agree to their laws.
They are more than welcome to move back to their home country where the rules are strict to their liking.

True, but with Obama in the WH, one never knows if they'd go along with a UN International Law against blasphemy of the prophet either.

God is all mighty- He does not need the assistance or the protestations of Muslims- Jews- Christians or anyone else..When will Muslims understand that GOD is truly great- That they do not need to chant and inform God that he is great. You can not insult GOD- that would be like a germ insulting you...do you care if a bit of bacteria sent an insult? of course not...Muslims respect the prophet more than they respect GOD.

Luckily, you live in the USA where that statement is legally acceptable.

In their home countries, you could be beheaded for that.

...and that's the kind of place they want to establish here.

Internment camps anyone? It wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit. Afterall, these are people who pose a direct threat to our liberty from the inside.

The assault has been underway for years. Most recently NYC has banned 'offensive language' in advertising on city property.

Wow. Never thought about that but the scenario is similar. Quite chilling to think about.

It wouldn't take much to convince the masses given all that's happened.
You know..I never could understand how the people of a land could let a dictator take over.
I also wondered the same about how US citizens would allow other US citizens to be rounded up and sent off to camps.

But now I realize that it wasn't an overnight thing. Actions, scenarios, news reports, propaganda all led up to those actions and by that time the people had been convinced that they were doing the right thing in supporting those actions and it always turns out to be "for their own safety".

To throw that question out there makes one think (if they don't just dismiss it).
