This is the face of a killer. Yesterday this woman, Meghan Mogensen, was convicted of animal cruelty. Her occupation: the director of Reston Zoo. Her job was to care for animals, all in the name of profit as people pay money to go to this zoo. What was she doing to euthanize the animals, according to a zoo curator who was the primary witness that testified against her?
"Some were shot, rabbits were slammed into walls and chickens were fed to pythons"
The straw that broke the camel's back was when she drowned a wallaby in a bucket. How is this any different from Michael Vick? Yes, Vick was engaged in illegal activity but so was she: Mogensen was also found guilty for possession of animal anesthesia without a license. She was the director of zoo!
How is this different from Vick? In the same state of Virginia as Vick, the director of a zoo who unlike Vick, was entrusted with the welfare of animals, received 30 days in jail. I REPEAT, 30 DAYS. Where is the outrage? Where are the protests? Where are the outcries for her genital mutiliation? Where is PETA? For anyone who has ever wished for the death (or at least ill will) of Vick but does not have the same vitriol for this woman...well please feel free to draw your own conclusions.
Vick was a big celebrity so he gets the book thrown at him while this equally (if not worse since she was entrusted with the care of these animals) horrible person gets a light sentence.
Michael Vick was guilty of something worse than animal cruelty - he had the temerity to take the snap from under center and run with the ball rather than stand their still as a statue and propel the ball forward with his arm.
He committed MWQB - mobile while quarterback.
Nevermind that Steve Young did the same and Tim Tebow does that now.
I could highlight a certain other difference between Vick and those 3 - but this being P&OC - I am certain that it will be pointed out within the first ten posts ...
That chicken thing: Pythons only eat live prey, and big ones need more than just a mouse or two. Live chickens are the common feed for them.
But that is no apology for her cruelty and callous behavior. She should have done 2 years at least.
When it comes to dogfighting, color has nothing to do with it. Whites go to jail just as much as black guys for it and get the same sentences.
