This is a damn shame. Veterans come home and have to wait years to get benefits. Delay, deny until we die.

Rioux has been trying to get his disability claim fully processed since January 2011, shortly after he returned from Afghanistan. The litany of delays includes lost paperwork, long wait times for appointments and erroneous lab results. At one point, a doctor prescribed him medication for a bladder infection he didn't have.

In August 2011, the VA told Rioux his claim was in review and, four months later, he was told to expect a decision by the end of the year. None came.

Is this how we treat our veterans? We have people on welfare who even get Obamaphones and people who put their lives on the line can't get any help. What is wrong wit this country?

It's pretty sickening. Support our troops? Seems we have fallen far short of that.

I know of a WWII vet that filed a claim a year ago for help with living expenses for him and his wife since they are both unable to care for themselves. They are still waiting. As you said, they keep saying that a decision will be made soon. In the meantime he has spent all of his savings and sold his house and is nearly dead broke waiting for help from the government. Yet as you said, the welfare kings and queens get help instantly and so do illegal foreigners in our country through their anchor kids.
