Depends on what you get to do, I suppose.

If you're the average white collar worker, your job is largely pointless and the paycheck is the end goal.

On the other hand, if you're a scientist, I suspect there might be more than money involved.

So do I, but would you keep doing it if you won 10,000,000 bucks in the lottery?

Productive and creative are two different things.
One is an action and one is a trait .

Brian,
You pose a very interesting question. I frankly believe most humans fail to do their best at work, because they are mainly interested in getting paid for what they do. I believe the truly repentant person has the philosophy stated in Col. 3:[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Even in voting, I believe we should choose candidates according to the degree of their upholding Biblical standards in their political positions. As in the present presidential election, Obama claims to be a Christian, but is backing abortion and gay marriages (which in my opinion are totally unbiblical) whereas Romney, a Mormon, is prolife and supports traditional marriage. My vote will go for Romney.
Best wishes as we seek to know and do the will of God,
Bob
