This is important to you because? What does it matter what Germany does unless of course you live there and have to decide whether to pay the tax or not. Apparantly it is not a new law either what does it really matter to anyone who is not a German citizen?

and it doesn't matter which country the church is in , as a church is still the house of the Lord.
Actually I don't think Jesus would oppose either, seeing as the way Church's act as political institutions these days and are in effect part of the government.
I can sure as heck guarantee he's not happy with the amount of money the Catholic Church hordes.
