Another GOP cockroach crawls out from under a rock.

Charles Fuqua, who is backed by the Arkansas GOP, is a candidate for the Arkansas House of Representatives. In his book, God's Law, he advocates for the death penalty for rebellious children.

From his book:
Quote:
The maintenance of civil order in society rests on the foundation of family discipline. Therefore, a child who disrespects his parents must be permanently removed from society in a way that gives an example to all other children of the importance of respect for parents. The death penalty for rebellious children is not something to be taken lightly. The guidelines for administering the death penalty to rebellious children are given in Deut 21:18-21:

This passage does not give parents blanket authority to kill their children. They must follow the proper procedure in order to have the death penalty executed against their children. I cannot think of one instance in the Scripture where parents had their child put to death. Why is this so? Other than the love Christ has for us, there is no greater love then [sic] that of a parent for their child. The last people who would want to see a child put to death would be the parents of the child. Even so, the Scrpture provides a safe guard to protect children from parents who would wrongly exercise the death penalty against them. Parents are required to bring their children to the gate of the city. The gate of the city was the place where the elders of the city met and made judicial pronouncements. In other words, the parents were required to take their children to a court of law and lay out their case before the proper judicial authority, and let the judicial authority determine if the child should be put to death. I know of many cases of rebellious children, however, I cannot think of one case where I believe that a parent had given up on their child to the point that they would have taken their child to a court of law and asked the court to rule that the child be put to death. Even though this procedure would rarely be used, if it were the law of land, it would give parents authority. Children would know that their parents had authority and it would be a tremendous incentive for children to give proper respect to their parents. Charlie Fuqua, Arkansas Legislative Candidate, Endorses Death Penalty For Rebellious Children In Book
Unbelievable....

You liberals should applaud this guy. At least he's being consistent and not simply cherry picking Leviticus 18:22 while ignoring the rest.

You assume that only liberals would be critical of a man who endorses the biblical directive that parents kill their rebellious children? Doesn't say much for conservatives, does it??

If you would have checked a little closer you would know he is actually under attack by the GOPs, not being supported by them. We are not talking about a few months ago, we are talking about now...Check your sourse before posting....

OP - you apparently didn't even read your own link. Fuqua took great pains to make clear that there is no evidence that any child was ever put to death for rebellion against their parents in accordance with the Deuteronomic law - and that is because their parent's loved them enough to correct them using proper measures so that extreme measures were not neccesary.

Your thread = massive FAIL.

I read my own link. He's OK with parents seeking the death penalty for their children, as long as they follow the Bible's rules for doing so. The guy is a whack job....

If the rules are followed - no child should ever be put to death.

The reason why rebellion against parents is a capital offense in the law is so that it will be taken seriously.

Guess what - someone was put to death for all the rebellion that children have had against their parents throughout history. His name was Jesus Christ and he was God. He paid the price for that rebellion because sin requires a blood sacrifice. All who confess their sin and accept Jesus are forgiven - because Jesus paid the price in full.

Jesus was raised on the third day and his ressurection means that we have life now through him - he overcame death and won victory over our sin which = spiritual death.

That is the gospel(Christianity 101 if you will) - and it is truly good news.
