People are still on average unemployed for 10 months before they find a job. Compare that to any time period since 1948...

I'm working 3 jobs and still am not making half of what I was with my one.

No, there is no good news to cheer about on the job front.

Now the intelligent person would throw party politics aside and see this as an eye opener....just in general.

In a country where a large number of people are ESL and lack the communications skills needed to work, or face physical, mental or emotional disabilities, or refuse to move to a community where there are jobs, 7.8 unemployment rate is about as close as you will get in today's world to FULL EMPLOYMENT.

Don't forget that many if not most of the people who are unemployed face physical, mental (intellectual) or psychological issues and are basically unemployable.

The headline is misleading. Why don't you people simply read the articles that you cite. Administration sent guidance to companies who MAY have to lay off people because of the congressional resolution act. In other words, if Congress can work out an agreement then the defense department will not have to make draconian cuts, which would not make it necessary to lay off these workers.

Please read before you post. It is just embarrassing.

Yes -- and that's why it's more important to look at the number of people living off government handouts.

Food stamps are way up, a good economy would mean the number of food stamp recipients would fall.

Jobs are great but not so much if the people getting these jobs have to remain on welfare handouts like food stamps and Medicaid and Section 8.

The best indicator of an economy would be to see how many people are on all the various welfare handout programs versus taxpayers. More people on welfare simply means the national debt will continue going up.

How about you stop reading articles in vacuums? And how about you stop advocating double speak???

How many other entities have they coerced like this?

How about using that "not embarrassing" brain of yours?

Your name fits you well.
