What starts on the West Coast spreads east. This is a precedent, and precedents are usually not reversed. The question is, what are we going to do about it, nothing? Just shut up and keep up with the overnight hikes?

Refinery fire in CA. Supply and demand is working right now. CA is unique due to the blend of gas needed so nine can be brought in from elsewhere. Prices here g=have dropped. Well they went up yesterday at the local station when we had a festival going on. They went back down today.

High gas prices are the result of failed Presidential energy policies

Actually, it's because of the policies in California, not anything Obama has done.

I'd love to see more drilling off the coast of California, but unfortunately, supporting Democrats means I have to tolerate environmental extremism.

An increase in gas prices from $1.78 a gallon--when Bush left office-- to $3.80/gal--todays price--is equivalent to a flat tax of 4.6% on a family making $23,000.

Just as todays tax code is progressive and increases as it goes up the income ladder an increase in gas prices are regressive and disproportionately impacts the poor.

Liberals declare that Obama's efforts to prevent drilling in America-while sending $2,000,000,000 to Brazil to help them drill for oil-has no impact on gas prices. However back in 2008 then Senator Obama joined other Democrats in declaring then President Bush responsible for the price of gas.

Obama and his Secretary of Energy have both said they wanted higher gas prices to help save the world from global warming and because their energy policies are designed to drive up the price of gasoline it's hardly unreasonable to hold them at least partially accountable for the horrendous impact of rising gas prices on the poor.

Great post, unfortunately people will ignore this and continue to think that the POTUS controls gas prices and that the government creates jobs. These are lies that candidates tell you to get elected, thats where their involvement starts and ends.

Except that government does create jobs via the Military Industrial Complex, as one example. If the Congress ever has the GUTS to cut that budget in any serious way, unemployment will skyrocket, along with bankruptcies of smaller businesses.

Try to get the GOP to cut the DOD budget. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Even if there is waste and fraud and everyone agrees to the cuts, the pain will be great. Won't happen.

Billions of dollars in government contracts given to Oshkosh Truck here in WI. I see now they've set up a new subsidiary, Oshkosh Defense, although there was some news a while back that Oshkosh might be losing money on these contracts, as well:
