I'm not inferring anything about how either presidency influenced gas prices, because they don't really influence it either way.

We all convened in Vail and made a secret pact. My friend the oil baron was down to his last hundred billion and agreed to raise prices.

Who made the gas double in price since 0bama was sworn in? Was that Romney too?

Has about as much credibility as saying the Obama administration cooked the books on unemployment. Seems like the right wing ate that no basis theory, why not this one?

I doubt this and without proof it is just coincidence. More than likely it has more to do with speculation.

In 2008 gas peaked in early September and dropped like a rock through the end of the year. The only times I ever remember gas prices conspicuously rising and falling in accordance with the election cycle was 2004 and 2006. In 2006 gas dropped quick before the election and shot up quick afterwards.
