Barry Soetoro was his name after his mother married Lolo Soetoro in 1965.
No it wasn't. It never was. He has been and will always bee Barack Obama. He has never had a legal name change.
Just because your mom marries another man, doesn't mean the children automatically gets the new husband's last name. A legal name change must be done in the court system in order for that to happen. And Barack Sr never gave up his parental rights.

Yes, I realize this. But he did go by that name for a while in some places. Kids of divorced parents often have the name issue, they struggle with it, especially if they have a parent remarry.

No he didn't. He was known as Barry (his nickname) but never changed his last name.
this all rests on a School application that Lolo filled out prior to Stanley and Obama arriving in Indonesia in 1966. there is no other instance that Obama was known as Soetoro as his last name.
Lolo probably filled out the application thinking that he could adopt Obama, but Indonesian Law at the time didn't allow it, and Barack Sr, never gave up his parental rights.

My friend in elementary school didn't. He always went by his father's last name, despite his mother marrying her new husband (his step-father) when he was 2 years of age. He never took on his step-father's name.

We never had that issue, either. My stepfather did offer to adopt us, but we - well, I decided for the three of us - kept our father's surname. There was no question, no serious consideration of it; our name was our name, and we were going to keep it.
It's not about defending Obama. It's about keeping alive empirical proof that Republicans don't have brains. The notion that someone's middle name determines his or her religious faith is so mind bogglingly stupid, I'm seriously considering reporting the OP for trolling, because my faith in humanity is still to high for me to think that someone could actually believe this ****.
Yes I'm sure no moderator has noticed this thread laying around the top of the page for so long. You go ahead and tell on the OP. Yippee. lol
So if somebody posted an equally inane thread about Romney, you don't think your fellow Romney-bots would reply accordingly? Okay, if you say so.
Btw, supporting a candidate doesn't mean you worship them. News flash: We only have two viable candidates to choose from, so it's not like we have a host of options. I'm not even a huge supporter of him (considering I'm not really a Dem), but you probably asssume that just because I'll call out the stupidity of his opponents. So I guess it's fair to say you worship Romney?
No I usually pop in and post something back as dumb as the original post and move on. I don't sit around ridiculing the OP non stop like we see here and which has even been admitted. But thats not a violation according to those doing the ridiculing but dangit the OP is gonna get reported for trolling. lol
So you don't know either. I didn't think anybody did.
