This might have already been said, but maybe you should move to a state to a town with no state income tax or local tax. It'd save you some money. I don't pay half of my income our in taxes and I live in GA and I honestly feel out state taxes are way too high, but it is nothing like 50% all put together, including things I buy. You should stop buying so much crap, that'd save you money and taxes.
Quite a problem indeed. Other problems to note are wages that just aren't cutting it anymore, record low taxes on the wealthy which do nothing for the economy, and record low capital gains taxes.

Capital Gains taxes are only what? 15%? Have youj people thought about the fact that INCOME taxes are paid on the money BEFORE it is realized as Capital Gains? It's taxed twice? How much more money do you want to get out of the profits? The more you raise the taxes, the more things will cost. Or has that fact escaped your cognizance? If i have stocks, the money a company earns is taxed, BEFORE I receive payout on my stocks.
How about the fact that the LAST time Minimum wages were raised, (A 3 step process), More people lost their jobs than ever! Blame it on Bush? Yeah right, it was Pelosi and Reid who foisted that upon us with the funds for our military bill. As soon as minimum wage went up, so did job losses, and the cost of almost everything.

Except of course, Wall St traders, who are investing the firms money, not theirs, and get taxed at the Golden People Carried Interest 15 percent rate. (This differs from capital gains, where skin in the game is required).
Why in the world would we reward those who took NO personal risk?
But of course, the OP, does not realize his taxes are sky high partly to cover such Wall St bums .
When you combine federal, state, property, medicare, ss, and sales taxes I am paying roughly 50 percent tax on my labor. . If I buy a 60 dollar pair of sneakers those sneakers really cost me 120 dollars, because thats how much Id have to make to really buy those sneakers. And you want to squeeze more money from the working man. You lazy socialists are the most generous people Ive ever met when your own money isnt on the line.

Depends on what state in which you live and pay property taxes. Many states have preferential property tax rates for homeowners, rates much lower than those levied on rental property..
The house in which I live has an extra $1500 property tax per year because it's a rental.

My property taxes are 9500 year. I live in Illinois. State income taxes were raised 67% last year. Spending cuts were nill across the board in this state, and now the Gov is crying to the Feds for a bailout. Ive seen what Democratic corruption can do to a state. Not good.

As an adult actually working for a living at minimum wage and paying inflated rent (due to inflated taxes on rental property), should adult breadwinners have to settle for a lower minimum wage so that Johnny can work after school?
