LOL.....there's far more mixing of politics are religion on the Liberal side I'm sure you are aware?
Do you think Barry Goldwater wasn't enough of a conservative to be on republican ticket even once? Or do you think this, at least in part, tells a story about why he couldn't?
"If they succeed in establishing religion as a basic Republican Party tenet they could do us in."
"When you say 'radical right' today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye."
"Well, I've spent quite a number of years carrying the flag of the 'Old Conservatism.' And I can say with conviction that the religious issues of these groups have little or nothing to do with conservative or liberal politics. The uncompromising position of these groups is a divisive element that could tear apart the very spirit of our representative system, if they gain sufficient strength."
Do you believe Democratic Party-driven Socialism can be Prevented?
This is the one thing that irritates me about a conservative Democrat like President Obama, the DNC leadership, and historical figures like President Wilson: their rejection of socialism. Not even a public option in the Affordable Care Act. At least we have Bernie Sanders.
If "R" party loses this election, it'll set them back at least 4 years, but, they'll be back to their pandering ways in 2016.
If the Democrats regain control of the House and more of a majority in the Senate, I hope they've got the good sense to adopt the Republican tactic of steamrolling over the opposition, and don't try to 'reach across the aisle' again.
