Throw some bogus info out there to make yourself look good only to have to correct/revise it later. That about sums up this Administration.

Did California Forget to Report 30,000 Jobless Claims? | Michael Shedlock | FINANCIAL SENSE
That article uses FOX BUSINESS as its source. Anyway...

I've seen several reports that 'an economist' or 'Labor Dep't. official' alleges the the figures don't count some new uc claims in California. California denies reporting late. I suppose we'll know the truth when revised figures come out.

CA issued a statement saying they did report their numbers and they had low numbers because the "weather was warm"

What Happened With Jobless Claims - Business Insider
A spokesperson for the department also offered an alternative explanation for the drop in California's unemployment claims: "Our weather has been unusually warm which has had some typical seasonal patterns in employment delayed."

and if you read that link I provided they questioned whether or not it was CA.
They didn't jump to any conclusions and SAY it was CA.

Like I posted..it's speculation to try to figure out why they numbers are so low.
And that's because there is no economic data to back up the low number, low UE rate and spike in consumer confidence. If there is no economic data to back up these lower numbers then analysts are looking for what is lowering these numbers.

WOW!

Forgot!

That is just hilarious. I wonder how Bo will answer that one in the upcoming debate? This just makes Obama look all the more incompetent and deceptive. Thank God we only have a few more months of him.

Again, I rest my case.

Not that it matters. I have a good sense of humor but very little tolerance for.....well, (insert word of your choice here).

You're saying you never heard of Jack Welch, former CEO of GE ?
And you come here commenting on economic data points ?

That says alot about your knowledge of Wall Street and economic issues.

On the completely off-chance that this is true, is the president now in charge of how or when states report their UE numbers?

No, but CA being the most liberal, most pro-Obama, it does provide fodder for the election speculation about getting the ducks all lined up in favor of Obama.

And you have to admit that we've had several "unexpectedly really good" reports come out in the past week on economic data.
Economic analysts are trying to figure out why. Gas is high, food is high, etc. They are looking for what sparked these great numbers.

True, the unnamed Labor Dep't. official didn't name California, but the allegation was obvious enough for California to be the only state to respond, denying the allegation. If we find the new jobless claims are revised upward by around 30,000, the Labor source was right.
