I know right. I mean really? We're seriously arguing about this? The right to protect themselves and their property?
I mean, hey, the cops can't always be there in a moments notice.
It appears some think the intruder was a good guy. By definition running to the back of the house and breaking the door in does not make him a good guy. We are not reading about a12 year old being raped and killed.
So just execute all burglars since you believe they deserve to die.
When they break into someones house they know they could be caught and that they could be killed, they take that risk to steal others possessions or to cause harm, the home owner does not know which. They are the one breaking the law, they knew the risk before they broke in and they could pay the price for THEIR actions. They are responsible for their actions, if they get shot or killed it's their fault and nobody else s.
If you are lucky you may get to test your theory some day. My kid is 12 and has been shooting with me for years.
Personally, I just hate thieves and won't shed a tear if all of them are shot. Thieves are a form of predator.
Good for you great parenting. In this case the intruder did not try to steal anything . The girl would have stayed hidden and he could of robbed the house. He was looking for her. Her family taught her to use a gun and she did so to defend herself .

This young lady (and her parents) did the right thing. You don't give an intruder the benefit of the doubt. It is sheer stupidity to even think that the person who just kicked your door in may really be a good guy who is just down on his luck and needs to feed his family. You assume the worst and then you can share one of your bullets with him.
Why stop there with your crazy leap of logic, this could clearly lead to nuclear war.
Did you notice the number of nukes US and Russia have? Maybe even enough to destroy all life on the planet. US is the one to blame - SU always proposed demilitarization. And it all began with "we have a right to protect ourselves".

Yep. And it's probably why we haven't nuked each other.
