Now this is hilarious! The biggest opponents of Willard's mormon "faith" have been the hard right wing evangelicals, now suddenly the "godfather" has changed his tone.

The evangelicals have been trashing Willard and his cult "faith" since day one, now suddenly that the writing is on the wall the Willard is going to lose, Graham changes his view that mormons are no longer a cult.

Now this is what is truly hilarious! Romney picked up a lot more votes than Obama did because of this. And TempesT68 thinks it's funny.

Exit polls say 26 percent of American voters called themselves evangelical or born-again Christians in 2008, and of these, 74 percent voted for McCain, with 25 percent voting for Obama.

But the evangelical vote varied significantly from state to state, from states with evangelical populations so small that they didn't even register, to states where they are a majority of the electorate. Click on the swing states to see how much of a problem Evangelicals might pose for Obama.

*** Follow this link to view an interactive map. By clicking on each state you can see the percentage of Evangelicals in that state and what percentage voted for McCain and Obama.

The flip-flop might seem silly, but don't underestimate the power of the votes from Christians that come from the Bible Belt and the South.

If nothing else, this might be one good thing to come from this election, regardless of who wins. Increased religious tolerance, in a nation founded in part on religious freedom, is always something to be celebrated.

They said they pulled it because they did not want to become a part of the political debate which revolves around the issue.

A cynical and insulting statement considering that the only demographic that really considers Romney's religion a political issue are the very evangelicals who Graham supposedly leads.

It sure has been something seeing evangelicals question the faith of a Mainline Protestant by calling him "godless" or a "Muslim" (Something Franklin Graham refused to disavow), while tripping all over themselves to defend the "Christianity" of a Mormon Bishop. This is something that would never happen if the party affiliations of the candidates were switched.

I personally believe that a person's religion should not factor into their ability to serve this nation. However, for millions of people who have clamored for a true Christian leader to suddenly pretend that they have no problem with a faith they've called a cult for decades is a nakedly political move.

It was strange they changed something they have been teaching for decades, seemingly to appease a political party. It erodes their credibility.

Maybe folks have evolved in their understanding of the Mormon faith?

I dont' see it as a political move at all. Graham has been known to pray with and counsel Presidents of both parties.

The cynicism is coming from people who can't seem to fathom that over a lifetime, a person can evolve and grow with his/her understanding of other faiths.

Billy Graham is not part of the far right religious, i.e. the Falwell types.

May I add that Graham has stated in the last few years that he believes there are many paths to salvation, including Buddhism and Islam.

QUOTE:
"I think that everybody that loves or knows Christ, whether they are conscious of it or not, they are members of the body of Christ. . . . [God] is calling people out of the world for his name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ because they have been called by God. They may not know the name of Jesus but they know in their hearts that they need something they do not have, and they turn to the only light they have, and I think that they are saved and they are going to be with us in heaven."

Especially as Graham has said in the past he's sorry he got involved in politics.

No, Billy is not that type, but his son Franklin certainly is. He is a political activist.
