The low IQ, elderly, white males are the ones running for office.

Um, in 2016 Medicare alone will have an unfunded liability of $103 trillion and it'll be increasing by $100,000 per second.

Total US liabilities will be $148 trillion a will be increasing by $250,000 per second.

The US national debt with be $22.5 trillion and the US GDP will be $17.28 trillion while the US GDP will be increasing by $10,000 per second.

Even a blind man can see a problem with those figures.

And all of that is counting by that time the US having a $477 billion budget surplus.

Is it fair to punish success and reward bad behavior? Should we not discourage people from staying poor and to ensure everyone understands that is no free lunch and you need to work very hard in school and later on in life to achieve a level of success because we are not going to reward failure or slackers.
Those on the lower end of the economic ladder make less because they do not readily have the same access the opportunity as others not because they are slackers or failures. Although some may be, we shouldn't generalize lower income Americans as not trying hard enough because in this country it matters where and how you are born. The point is that if you redistribute taxes and you invest in the in the poor class and help them move up as well as the middle class we can help them have access to those same opportunities. It is economically advantageous to do so. Elizabeth Warren is noted for saying that no one got their own their own when it comes to successful business. Its not about punishing the wealthy, but realizing that they were educated by someone and that that they employed someone and there were many hands helping them along to success. It only seems rational to me that by investing in the lower classes they get the same shot. Its not like we haven't done this in our country before. But we can expect to be to be the "greatest country in the world" if we don't do something to ensure that it stays that way.

To many people are overly obsessed with wealth, especially when it comes to what someone else has. What is "fair" is subjective, I'm sure if Mitt Romney made $12 million last year and his taxes were raised to a 99% rate and he still made $12 million next year plenty of people would cry about how unfair things are because Mitt Romney is wealthy. Does it make a bit of difference IN YOUR LIFE whether Mitt Romney pays taxes at a 15% rate or 50% or 99%? No it doesn't, you're simply envious of his wealth and you've bought into the lie that if a wealthy person is taxed more you'll somehow benefit.

You know what is truly fair as far as taxes are concerned? Lowering rates for everyone so they have more money to spend which will in turn generate economic activity. The more money people spend the more revenue the government collects, taking what someone has through excessive taxation doesn't make anyone's life any better. Besides why give more money to the government through taxation? People complained about waste and fraud when Bush was president and people have been complaining about the same crap since Obama has been president. It doesn't matter what side you support... you are losing.
