If you look at polls, this group votes overwhelmingly conservative.why is this? Is it because conservatism usually aligns itself with white-male hierarchy?

conservatism usually aligns itself with white-male hierarchy? just what does that even mean? Females, especially single females tend to feel vulnerable and thus prefer big government. Married women prefer individualism and less government. Put a Ring on It: Obama Wins Women, but Not the Married Types - ABC News
Non-whites are overwhelmingly pro-Democrat too, but I think this is inertia from the civil rights era. Blacks and hispanics are not inherently a liberal block, and I so I think this could easily change over the next couple decades.

It's because the Democratic Party hasn't been able to convince them that they are victims who need to be coddled by government like they have been successful at doing with other demographics.
A little bit of give and take is probably good. But, today's Liberals want to control everything and everyone. That's not healthy for America. Their tax and spend philosophy shouldn't be appealing to anyone.

Money and race. Like most politics. But I don't think you could call it overwhelming.
The Republicans have been losing ground among college educated white men since 2004, down from a 17 point advantage to a 10 point advantage. And they completely lost college educated white women, among whom Democrats now have a 10 point advantage as opposed to 2004 when the GOP had a 3 point advantage.
The GOP's real base is non-college-educated white men and women, who are both favoring republicans by a 14 point (men) and 7 point (women) margin. But the non-college-educated white women actually identified as Democrats by a 1-point margin in 2008.
The Democrats have the advantage among whites with more than a college degree. And the Republicans have been losing ground there as well. The Dems only had a 1-point advantage in 2004 but now have an 8-point advantage.
They are not overwhelmingly conservative. However, uneducated white males are overwhelmingly conservative and that decreases with educational attainment.

So why did Senate Republicans block an "insourcing" bill from Democrats that would have ended tax breaks for companies that move jobs overseas? How does that promote independence?
Depends on the generation. For millennials, they are Democratic, mostly because of social issues such as gay marriage and opposition to the religious sector of the GOP.

No, it's because a very large portion of this group ends up in fairly well paying, professional jobs. As a result, they are targeted by our income tax code to support a gigantic and oppressive Big Government, all the non-productive classes from retirees to welfare mothers, as well as Empire-building wars. They typically work very long hours (with the choice of doing that, or not working at all and being destitute) and have very little time left over to enjoy their healthiest years, only to see a loss of about 50% of their income to various levels of government--none of which will ever be returned to them in the form of services, since the money is spent on others.
After realizing that there will never be enough left over after taxes to put aside for a secure retirement (and that without such onerous taxes, retirement would be imminent), it is hard to justify selling your entire life in return for a paycheck.
The only thing that is unusual is that the liberal brainwashing of the educational system and media is enough to overcome the financial sense of many members of the financial class. Given the gross inefficiency of government and their overhead costs that dwarf even the most inefficient charity, it is hard to imagine why any professional person would support the government's confiscation of even more money from the working class, rather than letting those who earn the money give to the much more efficient charities that THEY believe in.

I don't know. I haven't read the bill. But, I'm sure there's a good reason.
Why hasn't Harry Reid passed a budget in nearly four years?
Why are Farmers overwhelmingly conservative?
Why are those who serve majority conservative?
Personal choice perhaps.
