The Swiss army are always drilling for something. They have to do something with the guys who are called up for their compulsory military service. It doesn't actually mean that they think there is a real risk of anything bad happening ... if they thought that they would not have joined the Schengen zone.
As to refugees, they have a lot of experience and know how to handle a large influx. When I was living there it was Yugoslav refugees. Before that Czech and Hungarian ones. It's no big deal.
Also in the 1980s, when I was living there, they had a huge exercise based on a scenario that WW3 had broken out over Greece (why is it always them) and the Russians were coming. We had tanks rolling over pontoon bridges and heading north to secure the border, Alpine fortifications being activated, planes being hauled out of their hangers inside mountains. It was all great fun and kept the conscripts occupied.
I wonder how they'll defend the Swiss portion of CERN. Will all subatomic particles have to stop for visas each time they cross the border?
CERN will be declared an international demilitarized zone and any interlopers will be sucked into a black hole that will be created in the Large Hadron Collider.

"Some 2,000 officers took part in the "Stabilo Due" military exercise in eight towns around the country, based on a risk map detailing the threat of internal unrest between warring factions and the possibility of refugees from Greece, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, according to Swiss media reports."

What the hell is it with the southern European counties? I see the Swiss ain't that worried over Germany in 2012 tho back in the day the Nazis were real bad news.

Not really, "back in the day" the Swiss loved doing business with the Nazis. Made them rich, quick.

Th eSwiss have always done business with everyone. They are, after all, capitalists.
