How about the fact that murder rates have actually fallen significantly over the past 40 years?
Hell, in 1960 the Murder rate was 5.1/100,000 residents and in 2010 it was 4.8/100,000. In other words, if 1960 and 2010 both had 300,000,000 residents, 1960 would have 900 MORE murders than 2010.
Oh yeah, and in 1960 black people and women were 2nd class citizens. Women could be fondled by their boss at work and not have any way to fight it. Blacks weren't even allowed in the same restrooms or even allowed to use the same water fountains back then in many places.
Media coverage is just more significant for this kind of story now, back then it was all about the Cold War and geopolitical stuff.
You are so right. My GF thinks that walking from our condo to the supermarket around the corner is somehow dangerous even though not a single woman has ever been kidnapped or murdered in that part of the neighborhood. It's just irrational fear brought about by media being unwilling to do any real reporting and focusing on sensationalistic stories instead.
In the 1960's, a majority of Black children lived in 2 parent households. In the 1960's Black men weren't imprisoned at the rates they are today, shooting each other down in the streets like dogs.
If you ask a young Black kid on the "screets" today if he would rather have a dad in his life or be able to dine and **** with "White boys", I'm sure he would prefer having a dad in his life.

And we all know that media is not always on the up and up. Don't we. Media should treat these cases the same, in my book, no matter who is doing the killing.
Murder is murder, and no matter of the color of the person or persons doing the murdering, it is wrong.
Media seems to not want to touch on certain stories, and we all know why.
And i disagree, although there has always been crimes, and murders. IN this day and time, every week we hear about a new case of murder. Sometimes in a week more then one murder, State does not seem to matter, murders seem to be on the rise.

where a 17 year old boy was arrested for dismembering Jeasica Ridgeway in CO? The guy cut her up and
buried some of her body parts under his crawlspace. He wasn't black but white. Just another piece of garage at the bottom of the barrel. Stop using race when people of all kinds commit this crimes mostly males.

No, I can find just as many depraved murders on a per capita basis in 1960, or 1930, or 1800. If you don't know that then your head is in the sand or up your backside or any where else the sun does not shine. That's the statical truth even if you want to pretend "the kids now days" just aren't as good as when you were doing immoral crap which you will deny doing. That's god's honest truth there.
Just like the filthy child molesting Christian priests were still attacking small children, the only difference is it didn't make the news so piece of crap religious people could pretend such things didn't happen even though it was going on in their own backyards. We just have better reporting today so these acts get noticed. That's the only difference and anyone who says other wise is a complete fool.

I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but the the percentage of Americans incarcerated has doubled between the mid 80's and now. The reason why murder and violent crime is down is because we are better at locking the criminals up.

Sure, but it doesn't really matter. 15 and 17 they should be tried as adults, it's too bad NJ doesn't have the death penalty anymore.
