Makes sense to me when there are witnesses in Benghazi who were near the site that night who say that the terrorists said they were attacking because of the offensive movie. Do you think Benghazi is totally isolated from the rest of the Middle East, and that no one spread the word? Do you think maybe the people in Benghazi could not get the Egyptian TV program which was airing the "offensive clip"? Do you think that Benghazi exists in a vacuum and receives no information outside that city?
Take a look at this map and note the distance between Cairo and Benghazi. Do you think it's not possible for TV broadcasts to reach Benghazi? I see a definite connection between the clear attempts of the TV hosts airing that film clip in Egypt to incite people to protest and the attack in Benghazi. Clearly, at the very least, the terrorists used the "movie" as a cover for the attack because they said the movie was the reason for the attack.
