Well it doesn't do much for an educated debate when you don't know where the Presidents came in line.
But I've made no bones about Lincoln and his expansion of federal power thats lead us to the abuse of the system that we have today. Lincoln essentially became dictator and chief. And while he himself thought about paying for the slaves freedom, he let his party choose otherwise.
Thats Lincolns legacy. And the blood of many hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Slavery needed to be ended. Like it or not, it was legal. Taking what was bought legally without recompense was what the civil war was about. I think slavery was awful, but there was a way to end it without a war.
I typed 13 instead of 16. I already stated that it was a mistake.
The real purpose of my post was to merely suggest that Lincoln's most noteworthy contribution has been largely ignored by the mainstream. Most children throughout the American school system learn that he "freed the slaves and preserved the union." But oddly enough, there is no mention regarding his use of printing Green backs (free of interest). Why is that?

There is a lot of history about the Civil War and Reconstruction not taught in K-12.
That time period has been whitewashed for education. And most don't bother studying history beyond what they've been taught in school.
I took an elective class when I was in college about that time period because I found the Civil War era fascinating and I could not believe all that I learned in that class that had not been taught or mentioned.

To directly respond to the point of your post, you are correct.
This was the greatest thing that Lincold did.
Kennedy did so as well and met the same fate.
The Federal Reserve Act was one of the "nails in our coffin".

Just in case you didn't know.
Thanks for that information, but I was really hoping that people would simply discuss the importance of Congress printing its own money supply (w/ out interest), instead of the federal reserve.
