Thanks in part to the internet, anti-bullying organizations are starting to become a commonplace. While many of these organizations have good intentions, I do not think that bullying can be stopped.

Which leads me to this question; is bullying in our nature? Has bullying been so ingrained in our culture that it has become "apart of life" and "apart of growing up"?

I think it's something that can only be managed but never eradicated.

I remember in 6th grade (will never forget) these "twins" used to make fun of me, everytime they saw me, mocking me about my clothes, because I was poor.

When someone gangs up on you (verbally, in this case, or otherwise) you never forget how that felt.

In my case: Was the one twin projecting off his brother or were the twins both born "Bullies?"

How did mankind get to be top dog on planet Earth?

By being the meanest MF on the block and no amount of hand wringing, putting flowers in ones hair, eating tofu or hiding under mommies skirt will change that fact....

There are only two types of humans, prey (the bullied) and those who hunt prey (bullies). If you can't stick up for yourself, tisk tisk.....

I was heavily bullied growing up, to the point that I had to drop out of high school and graduate from a continuation program as a junior. I stood up to my bullies and they keyed my car, and held me down and cut off all my hair.

Sometimes standing up to bullies works, sometimes it hurts their pride and they get revenge.

Face it, people are scum and their will always be bullying. While some cases of bullying are just plain evil and indeed criminal, some parents scream about bullying of their kids over the smallest thing, that most kids have put up with during their childhood. Then they wonder why their child as an adult, cant cope with challenges and end up shooting up a place.

Further evidence of the pu$$ification of America

i don't know why folks think we should just accept bullying. is discouraging violence and sociopathic behavior really considered "pussification" these days? let's go to the days of lawlessness, where the fittest survive... wouldn't that be even less "pussification"?

Really calling someone a name on Facebook is considered bullying? I am not talking about acts of violence which is reprehensible, and that needs to be dealt with. But getting school officials involved because your little Johnny or Jane was called a name on facebook or twitter? Are we really wasting school and law officials time with this?

Yes thats a sign of pu$$ification

Yes we are wasting time on this. My kids have a anti bullying assembly every week along with their DARE nonsense. They all know it's a joke. So do most of the teachers. But they all have to sit through some clown telling em how they are all mean and everybody is equal and on and on and if somebody hits em they are supposed to run and not hit back or they will get in just as much trouble as the one who is doing the hitting. It's just plain stupid and like you say a waste of time.
