I call BS. Do you know that gas prices dropped below $2/gallon by the end of 2008? Obama didn't move into the white house until Jan 2009. You can't dish out the credit to Bush can you?
I credit it to the economic meltdown, so in that sense Bush gets the credit, but do you really want to try that again? I don't think anyone with half a brain would want to destroy the entire economy just to bring the gas prices down.
There is no blame in stating historical facts about gas prices. I am sorry if it offends you.
You missed the point.
You lefties need to get over your love fest with Bush. Face the facts that your crappy choice has brought on hard times for far too many people. You don't get to keep deflecting, "But...but...but....what about BUSH!?!?!!?!!!!!eleventy1!!!?!!?!?!?!!?"
Ok? Bush hasn't been in office for four years.
It's time to accept that. Moving forward...isn't that your joke in chief's new tagline?

No, you missed the point. If you want to talk about gas prices in 2008 and somehow not mention Bush, then you'd better not join the conversation.
PS I already voted, and did not vote for Obama, but Ron Paul, so he is not exactly "my president". The whole point is that presidents do not control the price of gas.
To all of those who are always saying that gasoline has "doubled" since Obama took office, let's not forget that it was pretty high during some parts of the Bush Presidency.
I was just looking through my 2008 mileage records and found that gasoline 87 octane was $3.89/gal at the local Valero in San Antonio, Tex!!!
A President has little control over gasoline prices due to worldwide demand.
Yes, there was a gasoline price spike under Bush, but it was not a long protracted thing, that lasted year after year, now was it.
The problem with threads like this, is they take a small snapshot in time, of some statistic during Bush, as a way of trying to show how the 0bama economy is not really so bad. The problem is that these snapshots, like gasoline prices, unemployment, etc... were short lived under Bush, and under 0bama they are the norm.
Gasoline prices did spike under Bush, but under 0bama they spiked and then never came back down.
The economy under 0bama has been horrible, and it never budges, it just stays at that horrible level and drags on, and on, and on, and it drags15 million more people into poverty and despair, and just leaves them there.

Yes, snapwhots suck. The average gas price in 2008 was $3.30, but people keep talking about the lowest reading which exists only because the economy collapsed.
Gas prices are up 93% since Obama took office. Devil is in the details....
Yes the devil is in the details. When the collapse hit in late 2008 gas prices plummeted as a result. The only reason gas prices were as low as they were in early 09 is the economy was falling off the cliff.
Gasoline is really cheap in this country. I don't care if it's $2 per or $4 per. People should be moving closer to where they work and planning their lives much smarter to use less. This problem is not going away.
Nice try, but you are forgetting several key facts.
1. Gas prices took a serious hit after Katrina hit in 2005. Guess what happened after that? They dropped back down to $2/gallon.
2. Yes, gas prices went up big-time in 2008 just prior to the economic meltdown. BUT... what happened after that? It was BUSH who decided to drill for more oil off our shores. "magically", our gas prices dropped DRAMATICALLY down to $1.50/gallon.
So, each time that gas prices jumped beyond reality, they came right back down. But, that hasn't happened under Obama. The BP oil spill was just what Obama needed to keep high gas prices across the country. Obama has NEVER tried to lower gas prices. He doesn't care about high gas prices at all.
Gas prices didn't drop in late 08 because Bush decided to drill offshore. Gas prices dropped because the economy dropped off the cliff.
According to the Obamabots, high gas prices under Bush were caused by his being a "big oil guy" who, along with his alleged cronies, was getting rich off of it. High gas prices under Obama, OTOH, were obviously either caused by the economy that Bush "left" Obama, or a shortage of worldwide supply. Oh, and did you know that just since 2008, the President has absolutely no control over gas prices?
Unbelievable the slack they cut this guy right?
This is exactly what people were saying when prices were up while Bush was in office. Now that prices are near $5, all of a sudden we hear from the left is the "Bush economy" and "the President doesn't effect gas prices" speil.
