Notice how the OP from Texas praises Rudy and the CT poster who actually knows Rudy's history does not.
Perhaps people who start a post should know a little bit about the subject befor they look foolish like the OP does.
Rudy saved NYC while mayor. Previous administrations, cough Dinkins, let the city deteriorate. Rudy came in and cleaned up the mess and instilled a new sense of pride in the city. The vast majority of NY and surrounding area residents would agree Rudy was a successful mayor.

And the poster from NJ praised Rudy.
I think Rudy was praised in general for his handling of 9/11. Is there any dispute there?
Obama was praised at first - and in another thread, I said it was good for Christie to compliment Obama. But now the cameras are gone are the problems are not improving fast enough. Why? Where's Bloomberg?
You notice that hardliners will praise or condemn along party lines every time. I know a few NYC cops who feel Rudy is the great man who took care of the city like no other. These cops actually met the man and worked for him.
I know NYPD cops who said that Rudy made police work trivial and political, so there you have it.
Rudy was a good mayor, but his bashing of Obama on his Sandy response is purely partisan, as is just about everything going on in the media and spouted by pundits for god knows how long since this election started. The level of hyperbole from both sides is absurd.
Better check crime stats pre-Rudy and post-Rudy. When you are through with that enlightening exercise, take a look at the trash, filth and general rundown old city look and feel of NYC pre and post. 9/11 was the zenith of his career, but he did strong work in making NYC a safe and effective city while in office.

Actually is was Bratton the police commissioner who cleaned up NYC but as usual Rudy took credit and Bratton left for Ca.
I will agree that nobody pat's them self on their back better than Rudy.
The city left more than a dozen generators desperately needed by cold and hungry New Yorkers who lost their homes to Hurricane Sandy still stranded in Central Park yesterday.
And that’s not all — stashed near the finish line of the canceled marathon were 20 heaters, tens of thousands of Mylar “space” blankets, jackets, 106 crates of apples and peanuts, at least 14 pallets of bottled water and 22 five-gallon jugs of water.
This while people who lost their homes in the Rockaways, Coney Island and Staten Island were freezing and going hungry.
...
A marathon security worker still working yesterday from a generator-powered trailer in the park, said the power sources had not been moved to devastated areas of the city because of an impromptu race run by marathon holdovers in the park.
“Once we found out they’d still be running a marathon, we had to call all the towing vendors and tell them they couldn’t come,” he said.
“We can’t have these trucks coming in with the runners. It’s a safety issue.”
Geez - holding off resources for an impromptu race - that's worse than actually having the race.
You guys can complain about partisanship - but if they did what they should be doing and use the resources to their best ability - there would be nothing to say.
If you listened to the video - power was out in lower Manhattan for 4 weeks after 9/11 - yet there were lights on and work was being done because generators were in place. Why aren't they in place now?
