The original tea partiers were the same Anti-War fringe when Bush was in office! It's funny when all the left goons ask "Where were the anti-tax whiners during the Bush campaign?"...that's what they were doing.....Just, like you said, in a grassroots movement.

The ideals of the tea party are the most sensible....

We keep hearing how democrats need to move to the center but how about republicans moving to the center? The Tea Party took the republican party too far to the right. The 90's republicans would be considered moderate by todays tea party republican standards.

The Tea Party didn't do this, the Tea Party was corrupted by the extreme faction of the Republican party.

What they wanted was fiscal responsibility, less taxes and smaller government.

Unfortunately, that is not what they get characterized for. Social topics were never on the agenda of the original Tea Party.
